Vanier OLIMPICS!! 2011/2012

Hey,

I am back again. I hope you guys are wondering about the title of the post. I am gonna talk about a superb activity that I went to today. It is called as Vanier Olimpics. It is just like my primary school sports day with fun and silly games. It is just participated by old kids. LOL!

It was an event organised by my residence association, Place Vanier Residence Association (P.V.R.A). In the residence we have 12 houses or buildings namely Ross, Mackenzi, Robson, Hamber, Okanagan, Kariboo, Korea U, Tec and so on. Every two houses are in a team. Mine was with Mackenzi. My team is called as MackRoss.

We are the blue team and each team had their own colour. There were red, orange, yellow, green and black. We simply cheered and participated in the games and collected points for our team. So, now let me tell you what we did.

Early in the morning, at 8 am, the residence advisors a.k.a team leaders knock everyone's door and wake them up, so that we will join the event. Then I came down to the house lounge and did some face painting with blue colour. That was fun. We painted each other's face. Hahaha.

Anyways, we were given breakfast- half muffin, fruit juice and hot chocolate. Wow it was pretty tasty. Then we gathered in front of the house field and practiced our enterance dance. It was cool. One of the advisors did a rap song for the house and choreographed it. I had fun dancing. LOL!

Then we had our opening in the Vanier field (it was just a bigger field than the house field). Every team did their house enterance. Every team did it differently. Korea U just entered the field randomly from everywhere. It was pretty cool. Then RobKoot house sang a song in super big group. We went the last but I just feel that we rocked the stage.

Then we headed to the first station- human foosball. OMG! It was awesome. Some of my friends actually had their head knocked with the football. Pity them.
Second game was catching water balloon in bed sheet. Few people from the same floor hold a bed sheet together and catch the water balloon thrown by the opponents using a bed sheet. Then we have to shoot the water balloon to the opponents using the same bed sheet. The hard part was that we weren't allowed to see the opponents. It was a super nice experience.

Third game was called Under and Over if I am not mistaken. I don't really get what the game is about and just followed others. LOL! The last game was going through a spider web like thingy and flipping a mat with all your teammates on it. It was hilarious but we did it almost perfectly. In the end, we won third place and the BEST SPIRIT award. It was really fun and new experience.

I met more friends and learned some house cheers. One of the all time favourite is MackRoss is like a BOSS! Hahaha..

After the event, I had the best lunch so far. Guess what? It was Malaysian food- Roti Jala, chicken curry, currypuffs and keow teow goreng. Wow the curry was really tasty. I love it man. Thanks to Seri Malaysia Club. :)

That's all for the moment. Stay tuned for more experiences.

Have a good day ahead!

FUN! FUN! FUN!

End of 3rd week.

This week had been pretty busy. My time management was super bad and I was lost in most of my classes. It was really hard to catch up once I have slacked. Probably I will use this weekend to catch up with my stuffs. It is not easy to be top of everything while still trying to seek balance between life and study.

Although the week was busy with schoolwork, but I had fun too. Last Tuesday, we had Girls night cum biweekly meeting with Residence advisor of the Ross House of Place Vanier at the 2nd floor lounge. It was super different from other dorm meetings that I have been through so far. It was fun. We had chips and cookies. Thanks to my friend, Jasmine for sponsoring them for us. =) Then we did two activities. Initially I was taken aback with the idea. I thought "what the hell is going on here?" Do you want to know the activities?

Well, the 1st one was about writing on a manila card on the wall about what qualities you look for your partner. The 2nd one was to write pickup lines. Initially I felt awkward, but later I realised that it was a teen norm. LOL! We also did a jigsaw puzzle in the lounge with sisterhood qualities and our names. That was so sweet!

Friday, as usual I went to temple. This time I went to different temple with different senior, Tamil anna and my friend, Revii. The temple was inside a shop. I didn't feel weird indeed I was amazed with the temple. It was quite grand for a small community unlike in Malaysia, the Tamizhian population isn't many. I really liked the trip to temple although it was two hours long.

Tomorrow I have Vanier Olimpics. It like a sports day in the residence. I got to wake up early. So signing off now. Stay tuned for the next post.

p/s I didn't bring my camera when I was going to temple. =(

Hello New Place?

Hi,

I am really sorry for the super late post. I was suppose to continue about CPU, but after such a long time I became lazy to talk about the past and doubtful to think about future. Therefore, I give you the present.

After my graduation from Canadian Pre-University, I had two months of fun with family and friends. Now, I am in Vancouver, the best city to live in the world.

Being a first year science student in a renown university, University of British Columbia makes me to feel proud, responsible and scary at the same time. However, a warm welcome by the university during one-day orientation called Imagine Day boosted my confidence.

I never knew about this place very much. I didn't do my homework well. I never researched about Vancouver properly. I just thought of diving into the new environment and then start swimming.

After being here in 3 weeks, I learnt a lot about this place and life.

1- Vancouver is the most beautiful city I have ever seen.

2- The campus is gorgeous and full of trees. You can literally take a documentary about plants in this campus.

3- The sunset in UBC is the most beautiful one from the little collections of sunsets that I have seen.

4- People are so diverse and friendly. They can be mean or rude also.

5- No chili sauce, only tomato ketchup. :( But Heinz tomato tastes good too.

6- No tissue, but napkin. There are plenty of works I used to use in Malaysia are never used here. I can't think of any now.

7- One card for all public transportation services-translink.

8- It is not easy to transit into a new environment, especially new country.

9- Malaysia is awesome.

10- The phone plan here is very complicated

11- Inspiration is everywhere and it depends on an individual where to find it.

12- Listen to your heart although mind speaks the logic.

13- Friends will be there when I need them.

14- When I am lost, there will be at least another person in the same boat. After all, life is SIMPLE!

15- Home is just a call away.

16- Friends are just a text away. :P

17- Finally, I learnt that my heart lies here and I will definitely rock it.

p/s the building in the picture is one of the oldest building in the campus.
